Titan Quest may sound generic, but it looks anything but

With as unfortunate a name as Titan Quest, you might expect that this role-playing adventure is some ancient DOS-based game from 1987, with little pixilated giants rampaging across the countryside in search of quest or glory or, occasionally, yon busty maidens. But it’s a thoroughly modern 2006 release from THQ and developer Iron Lore, a new studio headed by Brian Sullivan, who in a previous life worked at Ensemble Studios on the original Age of Empires.
Titan Quest gives you your Medusa, your Egyptians, and your Satyrs. In a world full of general run-around-and-kill-stuff typically based on the same fantasy archetypes, this actually sounds like a different experience. And one of the new features is crazy radical: normally, after you bash your way through a band of well-equipped lizard, you only to get a few spleens and no swords or armor that you clearly saw them wielding and wearing. But in Titan Quest, if you can see it, you can get it.
There will be a class system with eight different choices, and you can mix and match to your heart’s content. If you want your fighter to shoot fireballs, by all means go for it.
The goal is to appeal to both the hardcore and casual gaming crowd, much like that Diablo game the kids love. An announced co-op multiplayer could make this mass appeal thing really work out.
