Gates of Troy

Gates of Troy (Matrix Games/Teen) 2.5 stars
Gates of Troy is a stand-alone expansion for Spartan, bringing six new scenarios and no new concepts. You get to play some games set in the pre-history of Greece, including a Trojan War with all the hero-generals you know, but the Thermopylae scenario, with the tense feeling of a last stand, is the only one that shows much creativity. The AI seems much tamer and the game less challenging. The bargain price is right if you are on the edge about buying the original, but there’s not enough here to make Gates of Troy any more than an average scenario pack.
