How many Clix does it take to give developers the license to make videogames from the Mage Knight universe? The world may never care… but there’s a good chance gamers will take an interest in the Whiz Kids miniatures game after seeing what Taiwanese developer InterServ has in store for them with Mage Knight Apocalypse.
The game casts you as one of five guardians sworn to put an end to evil and defeat the Apocalypse Dragon. To do so, you travel the world uniting every faction to your cause. You’ll also build skills along the way, becoming a force to be reckoned with as you progress through the 40-hour, 6-campaign, single-player adventure.
If you take your Vampire and pull her through hours of swordplay, she’ll master it; you can conceivably grow skills in two skill types or even three if you’re really hardcore. Use fireballs and eventually you’ll get better at throwing them, making traditional experience levels obsolete.
Additionally, you’ll be able to recruit up to five of your friends for co-op and versus play online. If you’re already a Mage Knight player, you no-doubt have friends to play with. If you’re not, maybe it’s time to give clicks a chance—on your mouse, anyway.
